KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN BRONZE AWARD SCHEME
As a Kennel Club Registered Dog Training Club, St.Edward's is pleased to offer the KC Good Citizen Training Scheme Bronze Award courses twice a year.
The next Bronze course will be held in Spring 2017. Please get in touch with us if you would like to enrol your dog on one of these courses, which normally run for about five weeks culminating in a Test Night when, if your dog passes all the elements of the Test, you will receive a Kennel Club Certificate of Achievement and a Kennel Club rosette.
Welcome to St Edwards Dog Training Club Orpington
St.Edward's DTC is a Kennel Club Registered club and holds pet obedience training classes on Tuesday evenings, and competitive obedience classes on Wednesday evenings.
St.Edward's Dog Training Club was founded in the 1960s originally as a pet training club, but soon expanded to include Competitive Obedience Training classes. For some years we also had an Agility Section, but this has now developed into a separate free-standing club in it's own right.
We welcome new members into both pet obedience (including puppy course) and competitive obedience sections of the Club and, dependent on availability in the classes, we can offer various levels of training for all breeds and ages of dogs. All our instructors are very experienced and have been closely involved with dog training at all levels for many years. Most of our instructors also compete in Obedience Shows on a regular basis with their dogs. We hold Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze Award Tests twice a year, and encourage our members to participate in this scheme.
PUPPY COURSES - BOOKINGS NOW BEING TAKEN FOR NEXT COURSE STARTING 28th FEBRUARY 2017
Tuesday Pet Class
Tuesday evening classes include the 8-week puppy course (KC Foundation Puppy Course outline), an Improvers Course (follows on from the Puppy Course) and two other pet obedience classes. All of our training is reward-motivated and the methods used are kind, dog-friendly techniques in accordance with Kennel Club guidance.
Here you can see our Improvers Course Instructor, Jacque, with her collie Misty. Jacque is an experienced dog trainer in several disciplines, including Search and Rescue. She has worked with Lowland Search and Rescue on a voluntary basis for many years and she is currently training Misty to do man-trailing work, which involves finding people who are lost or injured. Jacque also competes in Obedience with her other collies, Breeze and Diesel. Jacque, assisted by Judy, will welcome you into the Improvers Course class, and will help you to progress with your dog from basic training onwards. Improvers Courses usually run for 8 weeks.
COMPETITIVE OBEDIENCE CLASSES
New members always welcome at our competitive obedience classes on Wednesday evenings at St.Mary's Church Hall, Worlds End Lane, Green Street Green.
PUPPY & NEWCOMERS COURSE (8 weeks)
Instructed by Elsie Deacon and Judy Weight, this course follows a similar format to that of the Puppy Foundation Course as set down by the Kennel Club, and covers socialisation of puppies as well as basic training techniques and exercises, control and behaviour problems, and general day-to-day living with your dog. Our aim is to help and encourage all owners of new puppies to understand how dogs learn, and to acquire the right techniques to teach their young dogs not only how to behave in an acceptable way for their owners, but also how to really enjoy training and being with their human family and to have fun learning new skills.
Contact Judy Weight on 01689 875597 for further details, or to register for a course.
